Ingredients
- 2 pounds Russet potatoes
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup milk or heavy cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 pound pork sausage
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
Instructions
- Peel and cube the potatoes, then place them in a pot of cold salted water.
- Bring to a boil and cook until tender (15-20 minutes). Drain well.
- Return the potatoes to the pot, add butter, and mash until smooth.
- Gradually mix in milk or cream until desired consistency; season with salt and pepper.
- In a skillet, cook crumbled sausage over medium heat until browned.
- Stir in flour, then slowly whisk in chicken broth until thickened; season as needed.
- Serve mashed potatoes topped with warm gravy.
