- 8 oz rotini or penne pasta
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
- 1 cup bell peppers, diced (mixed colors)
- 1 medium sweet onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
Instructions
- Gather all ingredients for easy access.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté onions and bell peppers until softened (about 5 minutes).
- Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Stir in sliced smoked sausage and cook until browned (5-7 minutes).
- Add uncooked pasta and chicken broth; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer until pasta is al dente (10-12 minutes).
- Mix in honey and BBQ sauce. Add red pepper flakes if desired; cook uncovered for another 3-5 minutes.
- Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper before serving.
