Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean beef (Top Round or Flank Steak)
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef against the grain into thin strips about 1/8 inch thick.
  2. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and cayenne.
  3. Place sliced beef in a zip-top bag and pour in the marinade. Seal and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  4. Preheat your oven to 175°F (80°C).
  5. Arrange marinated beef strips on wire racks over baking sheets without touching.
  6. Bake for 4-6 hours until dry yet chewy; it should bend without breaking.
