- 12 oz ziti pasta
 - 1 lb ground beef (medium or lean)
 - 24 oz marinara sauce
 - 15 oz ricotta cheese
 - 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
 - ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
 - 2 tbsp fresh basil or parsley (chopped)
 - 1 tsp garlic powder
 - 1 tsp onion powder
 - Salt and pepper to taste
 
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Boil salted water in a pot for the ziti.
 - Cook ziti until al dente (8-10 minutes), drain, and set aside.
 - In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium heat (5-7 minutes) until cooked through.
 - Add marinara sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper; simmer for 5 minutes.
 - Mix ricotta cheese with an egg (optional), half of the herbs, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
 - In a baking dish, layer half of the cooked ziti followed by meat sauce, dollops of ricotta mixture, and mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers.
 - Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes; remove foil and bake an additional 15-20 minutes until golden.
