- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 2 cups elbow macaroni
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- ¼ cup ketchup
- 1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
- Optional: Sliced pickles for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook elbow macaroni in salted boiling water until al dente; drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, brown ground beef with chopped onion over medium heat until cooked through.
- Stir in tomato sauce and ketchup; simmer for 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine cooked pasta with the beef mixture and half the cheddar cheese.
- Transfer to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish; top with remaining cheese and bread crumbs.
- Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
