  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 4 medium russet potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Sauté chopped onions until translucent. Add ground beef and cook until browned, draining excess fat.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika until smooth.
  4. In an oven-safe baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by half of the creamy mixture and half of the sautéed beef. Sprinkle cheese on top; repeat layers.
  5. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
