- 2 slices of bread (e.g., sourdough or white)
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup sliced tomatoes or cooked bacon (optional)
Instructions
- Butter one side of each slice of bread.
- Heat skillet over medium-low heat.
- Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, in the skillet and add cheese on top.
- Top with second slice of bread, butter-side up.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes until golden brown; flip carefully and cook until both sides are toasted.
- Remove from skillet, let cool briefly, cut diagonally, and serve.
