- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio)
- 1 cup plain or Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs
- ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
- 2 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Gather all ingredients and tools.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, sautéed onion, minced garlic, and Italian seasoning. Mix until just combined.
- Roll mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 25 minutes or until browned and cooked through.
- In a large saucepan over medium heat, add olive oil and crushed tomatoes. Stir in sugar and Italian seasoning; let simmer.
- Gently add baked meatballs to the sauce and cook on low heat for an additional 10-15 minutes.
