- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 cups whole milk
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon mustard powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper (adjust to taste)
- Optional: Breadcrumbs or crispy bacon for topping
Instructions
- In a large pot, bring 4 cups of salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook until al dente, about 7-9 minutes.
- Drain most of the water, leaving about half a cup in the pot. Reduce heat to medium and stir in milk and butter until melted.
- Gradually add shredded cheddar cheese while stirring continuously until smooth.
- Season with mustard powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Adjust seasoning as needed.
- For added texture, top with breadcrumbs or crumbled bacon and broil for 3-5 minutes until golden brown.
