- 1 ribeye steak (1 inch thick, approx. 12 oz)
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 2 tbsp high-quality olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic (optional)
Instructions
- Remove the ribeye from the fridge about 30 minutes before cooking to bring it to room temperature.
- Season both sides of the steak liberally with kosher salt and black pepper.
- Preheat your grill or cast iron pan over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes until hot.
- Drizzle olive oil onto the hot grill or pan and place the steak on it. Sear each side for about 4-5 minutes until a golden crust forms.
- If using, add smashed garlic cloves in the last minute of cooking for added flavor.
- Once cooked to your desired doneness (medium-rare at 130°F), remove from heat and let rest on a cutting board for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
