  • 1 ribeye steak (1 inch thick, approx. 12 oz)
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tbsp high-quality olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic (optional)

Instructions

  1. Remove the ribeye from the fridge about 30 minutes before cooking to bring it to room temperature.
  2. Season both sides of the steak liberally with kosher salt and black pepper.
  3. Preheat your grill or cast iron pan over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes until hot.
  4. Drizzle olive oil onto the hot grill or pan and place the steak on it. Sear each side for about 4-5 minutes until a golden crust forms.
  5. If using, add smashed garlic cloves in the last minute of cooking for added flavor.
  6. Once cooked to your desired doneness (medium-rare at 130°F), remove from heat and let rest on a cutting board for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
