- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans with butter.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth. Gradually mix into the dry ingredients.
- Divide batter evenly between prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
- For the custard filling: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine milk and cornstarch until smooth. Stir continuously until thickened; remove from heat and mix in vanilla extract.
- For the chocolate glaze: Melt chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in short bursts until smooth, then stir in heavy cream gradually.
- Assemble: Place one cake layer on a plate, spread half of the custard filling on top, add the second layer, and pour chocolate glaze over.
