  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 2 cups marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness for uniform cooking.
  2. Set up three bowls: one with seasoned flour, another with beaten eggs, and the last with breadcrumbs mixed with half of the grated Parmesan.
  3. Dip each chicken breast into the flour, then egg, and finally coat it with the breadcrumb mixture.
  4. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the breaded chicken for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown.
  5. In a baking dish, spread marinara sauce on the bottom, place the cooked chicken on top, add more marinara sauce, and layer with mozzarella slices.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
