- 4 medium Russet potatoes (about 2 pounds)
- 4 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
- 2 tsp coarse sea salt
- 1/2 tsp freshly cracked black pepper (optional)
Instructions
- Peel the Russet potatoes and cut them into even strips (about 1/4 inch thick).
- Soak the cut fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the soaked potatoes in batches for about 4-5 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove fries with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels, seasoning with salt while hot.
- Serve with your choice of dipping sauces.
