Ingredients
  

Pasta
  • 8 ounces elbow macaroni or any pasta of choice
Cheese Sauce
  • 1 cup cottage cheese preferably low-fat
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese for flavor
  • 1/2 cup milk whole or low-fat
  • 1 tablespoon butter for richness
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper to taste
Topping
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs for crunch
  • 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese optional, for flavor

Method
 

Cook Pasta
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Prepare Cheese Sauce
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine cottage cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, milk, butter, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth and well combined.
Combine and Bake
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta with the cheese sauce. Mix well.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish. In a small bowl, mix together the bread crumbs and parmesan cheese, then sprinkle evenly over the pasta.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
Serve
  1. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your creamy cottage cheese mac and cheese!
