1 pound Certified Angus Beef ® ground beef (80/20)
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 small red onions, sliced
4 tablespoons butter, divided
1/2 cup Irish stout
2 teaspoons canola oil
12 slices marble rye bread
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 (7-ounce package) aged Irish cheddar cheese (like Kerrygold® Dubliner), sliced thinly by hand
